“The world’s favorite season is the spring.
All things seem possible in May.”
– Edwin Way Teale
May 13th, some may say today, “be careful, it’s Friday the 13th”. I don’t subscribe to superstition. I believe we are given choices in life and we decide our destiny. Something good doesn’t happen because we pick up a penny. Something wonderful happens when we open our hearts to the endless possiblities of hope and love in the universe.
We make choices every day; to do the right thing, to speak kind words, to give to others…or not to.
Today is not a superstitous day…it a gorgeous sunny day in the Chicago area! This May 13th is filled with neighbors walking, planting, bike riding; sounds of children playing outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. The cold winter months are so quiet…close up the windows, stay in to stay warm…May is filled with a feeling of “throw open your windows and let the SUN IN!!” We feel a sense of hope, a sense of refreshing our souls and blooming of new memories.
All things are possible in May…just allow yourself to be welcoming to all the possibilities!
If you are feeling overwhelmed or not confident in your abilities, just look at this day. The warmth and light from the sun will give you the strength you need to embrace all the possibilities you CHOOSE to embrace!!
Be INSPIRED and reach to the sun…be the tallest flower…OPEN and JOYFUL!
“Be like a flower and turn your face to the sun.”
– Kahlil Gibran
For many this week is spring break, or last week may have been. During this time families take time together, to reconnect, to vacation, to live outside of the ordinary routine of life. It is a time to remember what is important to us as individuals. Often we vacation where we are the happiest. Where are you the happiest? Beach? Mountain? Hiking? Bustling City? Quiet hide-a-way in the country?
Can we really truly be happy because of our surrounding or is it because of the people that surround us?
There are people in everyone’s life that allow you to be truly authentic. My family is that for me. They embrace me and accept me at my silliest and help lighten my mood when I get too serious. When we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders those are the people we need to reach out to. There are life-long friends that understand all sides of us, as well as our families. Sometimes friends are who we turn to. Think about who that is for you?
Who can you really be free around?
Who accepts you when you are authentic?
Who can you open up your heart to best?
Who knows your deepest secrets and still loves you?
Who is the first person you turn to when you are sad?
Who do you reach out to when you are thrilled about something?
Who are you willing to let into the inner most corners of your heart?
You will achieve all your wildest dreams if you become authentic and be yourself. Don’t be afraid to be who God made you, for you are perfect in his eyes. Even with all your imperfections, He loves you and wants you to be all He created you to be while here on earth. Open your freaky, thoughtful, spiritual side. YES! You can be all those things and be a loved person. Don’t be afraid to show ALL your sides to those closest to you and to everyone you feel comfortable with. Soon you will be seeking to be your most authentic self in every situation!
So enjoy your spring break, be free from the daily routine and relax with those you love the TRUE YOU!!
I read this poem today and thought what a lovely image to carry with us throughout spring.
How do we carry the goodness inside of us…can others see our kindness, our gentleness, our generosity…our Goodness.
Let us show the goodness inside of us to everyone so that all they see the true us! And let us see the goodness in each person we meet today!
Imagine a world where this happens…I want to live in that world…
JOIN ME IN GOODNESS and LOVE!!
I Know Something Good about You
Wouldn’t this world be better
If folks we meet would say,
“I know something good about you”
and treat you just that way?
Wouldn’t it be splendid
if each handshake good and true,
carried with it this assurance,
“I know something good about you”
Wouldn’t life be happier
If the good that’s in us all
Where the only thing about us
That people could recall?
Wouldn’t our days be sweeter
if we praised the good we see
for there’s a lot of goodness
in the worst of you and me?
Wouldn’t it be fine to practice
this way of thinking too
You know something good about me
and I know something good about you?
“Today is the day when bold kites fly,
When cumulus clouds roar across the sky.
When robins return, when children cheer,
When light rain beckons spring to appear.
Today is the day when daffodils bloom,
Which children pick to fill the room,
Today is the day when grasses green,
When leaves burst forth for spring to be seen.”
– Robert McCracken, Spring
What I love about March
* having to get out my sunglasses when driving;
* seeing the snow, originally so pure and white, melt into warmth;
* watching the brown dormant grass turn the green of new life;
* the flowers pushing through the ground, grasping for growth;
* hearing birds singing as they return to nests;
* going to The Creamery for the first ice cream cone for the year;
* shedding our winter coats for spring jackets;
* donning spring nail colors on open toe sandles;
* Spring break and visiting family staying at the house;
* celebrating St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s Day and so much more!!
“Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!”
– Robin Williams
