When

When the time comes to chase your dreams,
and it will, they may seem elusive;
but know you won’t catch them all at once.
Just one challenge at a time.

When success comes,
and it will, don’t gobble it up
savor and share it and it will last.

When love comes,
and it will, don’t bury it in expectations and projections
be prepared to fall in love all over again every day.

When the unexpected and inconceivable intrudes on life,
and it will, deal with life’s actual events –
don’t obsess about perceived eventualities.

Relax and enjoy the ride.

Michael J. Fox, actor and activist

When life happens to you, do you see the sun or the night? Do you look to what can be positive and bright or do you huddle in the darkness waiting to be saved?

Well you are saved. You are strong! You can move forward.

When life throws rocks at you, raise your arm and crush them into fine gravel for your journey.

Sometimes we have addictions, anxieties, illnesses, challenges, and disappointments in our lives – but they are a small part of our life if we look for the sunshine!

When we expect goodness, light and love, we are forever surprised at what is then handed us. Sometime we have an uphill battle to climb. Sometimes we lose a parent or fail a test or get terrible news at the doctors. I try to always remember  that there are others that are experiencing much more heartache and despair than what I am experiencing. I focus on the good in my life. I focus on how to help others. I focus on clarity. I focus on opportunities to reach out instead of curling up.

When there is gray clouds, fill them in with bright yellow!

The ride is so much brighter in the sun!
I am looking forward to the day I am strong enough physically to climb behind my husband on his Harley and drive off to Relax and Enjoy the Ride!

The Greatest Birthday

‘Glory to God in the highest
And on earth peace good will toward men’

Born unto a virgin was God’s only begotten Son
Emmanuel (God with us) is the title of The One
Mary’s father was of Judah, the linage of a king
Mary’s mother was a Levite, from Aaron’s priestly string
The world beheld a brilliant star a shining in the east
The sign of Christ, The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and High Priest

‘Glory to God in the highest
And on earth peace good will toward men’

Shepherds in the field keeping watch over their flock at night
The angel of the Lord appeared and gave them such a fright
‘Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy’
For unto you is born this day, a Saviour, Christ the Roi
The Babe is wrapped in swaddling clothes, a lying in the hay
Heavenly host gave praise to God on the greatest birthday

‘Glory to God in the highest
And on earth peace good will toward men’

(Luke 1: 5-36,2: 6-14,3: 23-38)

Peace is possible

On June 22, 2004 an angel on earth was called home.
Mattie Stepanek peacefully left us with poems and thoughts on life and faith.
Mattie was able to balance his life and his faith like no one else.
He wanted to be remembered as a poet, a peacemaker and a philosopher who played.

What a wonderful way to be remembered. No matter how important we get in our jobs, lives and families – we need to play.

We need to jump into the pool cannonball style – run without inhibitions in every direction – grab a friend and do the unexpected.

Did you watch Friends, I loved that emsemble of characters!
My favorite character was Phoebe.
I know, I know, they all had their quirkyness that make them loveable personalities. And there pieces of each personality that I love, but Phoebe was always true to herself, not needing to pretend to be something she was not. She was smart, kind, compassionate and forgiving – and totally Phoebe!
One of my favorite Phoebe scenes is when she runs with Rachel in Central Park. Phoebe run like a wild person and Rachel is embarrased. Phoebe doesn’t understand why anyone would run so uptight – she runs like a child, as fast as she can, arms flying all around her – but with pure joy.

Let’s take a lesson of pure joy from what mattered most to Mattie – “Praying and playing, and celebrating life every day in some way.”
Playing and running uninhibited.
With pure joy, not worried about what others think.

The Dust of God

A long time ago, I was a leaf on a tree…
I was hanging on my tree and
it was during spring so it rained a lot,
and that was good because I was thirsty.
Then it turned into summer
and it was so hot, but I felt good when I saw
the beautiful flowers down below.
Then fall came.
I was green, but then I turned red
and fell down to the ground.
When winter came it was cold,
and I began to disappear and turn back into the dust that I was made from.
Then spring came again…
I was not a tree anymore, but buried into the ground.
But I was still a part of  the flowers and of the trees and of
all the life around the world…
because I was the dust that God made,
and that is the dust that God used
to make the whole world, and the animals
and the plants and the people
I am the dust and I am the life and
I am so happy…
Hanging on my tree,
Floating to the ground and
being the dust of God in the earth.

Something Good about You

I read this poem today and thought what a lovely image to carry with us throughout spring.
How do we carry the goodness inside of us…can others see our kindness, our gentleness, our generosity…our Goodness.
Let us show the goodness inside of us to everyone so that all they see the true us! And let us see the goodness in each person we meet today!
Imagine a world where this happens…I want to live in that world…
JOIN ME IN GOODNESS and LOVE!!

I Know Something Good about You

Wouldn’t this world be better
If folks we meet would say,
“I know something good about you”
and treat you just that way?

Wouldn’t it be splendid
if each handshake good and true,
carried with it this assurance,
“I know something good about you”

Wouldn’t life be happier
If the good that’s in us all
Where the only thing about us
That people could recall?

Wouldn’t our days be sweeter
if we praised the good we see
for there’s a lot of goodness
in the worst of you and me?

Wouldn’t it be fine to practice
this way of thinking too
You know something good about me
and I know something good about you?

Welcome March!

“Today is the day when bold kites fly,
When cumulus clouds roar across the sky.
When robins return, when children cheer,
When light rain beckons spring to appear.

Today is the day when daffodils bloom,
Which children pick to fill the room,
Today is the day when grasses green,
When leaves burst forth for spring to be seen.”
–  Robert McCracken, Spring

What I love about March
       * having to get out my sunglasses when driving;
       * seeing the snow, originally so pure and white, melt into warmth;
       * watching the brown dormant grass turn the green of new life;
       * the flowers pushing through the ground, grasping for growth;
       * hearing birds singing as they return to nests;
       * going to The Creamery for the first ice cream cone for the year;
       * shedding our winter coats for spring jackets;
       * donning spring nail colors on open toe sandles;
       * Spring break and visiting family staying at the house;
       * celebrating St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s Day and so much more!!

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!”
–  Robin Williams
