As we begin this celebration of the Independence of our country, may we be centered in the hope that surrounds us and may we take moments of quiet time to be thankful for the freedom we so richly enjoy. Thank you to all the men and women that for over 235 years have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
This morning on the radio, I heard talk about how we so quickly say “Happy Fourth of July”. They posed the question if we remember what this holiday is about; not the family picnics, not the fireworks – the fight for freedom! So I offer you this inspiration and prayer as a gift on this Independence Weekend.
May each family hug remind you of the love of country.
May each firework that you see remind you of the blood that was shed.
May we never forget that the 4th of July is more than food, family and fireworks…it’s Independence and FREEDOM!!
We must listen for the call
and do what is pleasing to God,
which is to be fair, charitable, helpful and generous,
even if it requires sacrifice of us.
